Harry & Louis Adventures

Hi I am Rebecca and I’m a stay at home mummy to two gorgeous boys, Harry 2.5 and Louis 13 weeks. I absolutely love creating new exciting activities for us to do and adventures for us to go on.

Method:

A fun way to learn about different smells and the sense of smelling. Just let your children smell each container and let them decide which picture shows the correct substance they are smelling.

Simply fill a different container with the substances on the pictures included, lay the pictures on a table and line the containers up, ready for your children to work their way along the line.

The substances on the pictures are:

  • Bubble bath
  • Cinnamon
  • Oranges
  • Perfume
  • Mustard
  • Vinegar
  • Fabric Conditioner
  • Brown Sauce
  • Mint
  • Oregano
  • Soy sauce
  • Shoe polish

We had a lot of fun with this today, I added all the substances to little test tubes. I liked the fact I could put a lid on them and they were clear for Harry to see the substance as well as take the lid off to smell. I presented them in a circle shape in a tray and Daddy and Harry worked their way round, smelling and guessing each smell. Once Harry identified the correct picture to the smell, he just put the test tube on to the picture.
